Wed, 19 Nov 2008 01:12:11 PST- As quickly as the road to the Rose Bowl widened for the Spartans, Iowa's victory over Penn State cluttered it again. Now that Michigan State Football has finally learned how to get out of its own way, it can't get any help from the rest of the conference.
When Mark Dantonio left the stadium following a win over Purdue, he had two weeks to beat Penn State and send the Spartans to the Rose Bowl. By the time the night had ended, Iowa had beaten Penn State, thereby destroying all of Michigan State's plans.
Instead of getting upset about misfortune, Dantonio and the Spartans will take a week off before beginning preparations for their final game of the season. It's a strange time for an open week, but it never hurts to have two weeks to prepare for arguably the best team in the...
Tue, 18 Nov 2008 16:41:19 PST-At this time of the season, Rose Bowl bids and Big Ten titles are usually not an option for Michigan State. The Spartans haven't earned even a share of the league title since 1990 and their last Rose Bowl appearance was 1988. Both of those goals are still attainable for No. 17 Michigan State Football as it prepares for a trip to No.
Tue, 11 Nov 2008 08:51:00 PST- EAST LANSING - Michigan State Football coach Mark Dantonio met with members of the local media for a low key press...
Sat, 08 Nov 2008 16:57:32 PST-Javon Ringer stood outside Spartan Stadium, celebrating with Michigan State Football fans and carrying a red rose. Ringer and Michigan State Football will have a chance to play for a piece of the Big Ten title -- and possibly even a Rose Bowl berth -- thanks to Saturday's 21-7 win over Purdue. The No. 18 Spartans (9-2, 6-1 Big Ten), who are off next week, will rest up for a Nov.

Thu, 20 Nov 2008 18:11:40 GMT-Two years ago, OSU-Michigan was a 1-2 showdown. This year? Bruce Hooley says it's making former stars in the series cringe.
Wed, 19 Nov 2008 22:46:03 GMT-Dontae Johnson is yet another prospect from Pennington, N.J., that has shown his prowess both on the gridiron and the hardwood throughout the years. He has already secured his first written offer on the football side of the spectrum from Maryland and has more than a handful of schools vying for his services early in the game.
Wed, 19 Nov 2008 21:59:44 GMT-Joe Paterno may ultimately decide to walk away from football after Penn State's regular-season finale. If he does, he'll exit Beaver Stadium as major college football's all-time winningest coach.
For now, he's just hoping for the same result he's left with after every other home game against Michigan State Football - a win.
Needing a victory for its first trip to the Rose Bowl since 1995, No. 7 Penn State plays host to the 17th-ranked Spartans on Saturday.
Wed, 19 Nov 2008 07:20:07 GMT- LOOKING GOOD: Javon Ringer has exceeded everyone's expectations, carrying 353 times -- easily the most in the nation -- and piling up 1,548 yards and 20 touchdowns in becoming a viable Heisman candidate. He probably won't win it, but he will finish his career among the all-time greats to play in East Lansing. Defensively, Otis Wiley has quietly become an irreplaceable cornerstone.
